چکیده

5-HT receptors (nomenclature as agreed by the NC-IUPHAR Subcommittee on [198] and subsequently revised [180]) are, with exception of ionotropic 5-HT3 class, GPCRs where endogenous agonist is 5-hydroxytryptamine. The diversity metabotropic increased alternative splicing that produces isoforms 5-HT2A (non-functional), 5-HT2C 5-HT4, 5-HT6 (non-functional) 5-HT7 receptors. Unique amongst GPCRs, RNA editing receptor differ in function, such efficiency specificity coupling to Gq/11 also pharmacology [40, 491]. Most (except 5-ht1e 5-ht5b) play specific roles mediating functional responses different tissues (reviewed [471, 387]).

5-hydroxytryptamine and its receptors in systemic vascular walls.

5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in the bloodstream is largely contained in platelets and circulates throughout the entire vascular system. 5-HT released from activated platelets dramatically changes the function of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) and endothelial cells (ECs). In VSMCs, 5-HT induces proliferation and migration via 5-HT2A receptors. These effects are further enhanced by vasoactive...

Pharmacology of 5-hydroxytryptamine receptors in frog skin epithelium.

1. 5-Hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) stimulates active sodium transport and decreases the passive mucosal to serosal chloride permeability across frog skin. The relative importance of the different regions of the 5-HT molecule in the mediation of these responses has been studied using a range of structurally related compounds. 2. Substitution in the ethyl amine side chain of 5-HT (5-hydroxytryptophan)...

5-hydroxytryptamine receptors in the human cardiovascular system.

The human cardiovascular system is exposed to plasma 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT, serotonin), usually released from platelets. 5-HT can produce harmful acute and chronic effects. The acute cardiac effects of 5-HT consist of tachycardia (preceded on occasion by a brief reflex bradycardia), increased atrial contractility and production of atrial arrhythmias. Acute inotropic, lusitropic and arrhythm...

Antidepressant-like behavioral effects mediated by 5-Hydroxytryptamine(2C) receptors.

The role of the 5-HT(2C) receptor in mediating active behaviors in the modified rat forced swim test was examined. Three novel selective 5-HT(2C) receptor agonists, WAY 161503 (0.1-3.0 mg/kg), RO 60-0175 (2-20 mg/kg), and RO 60-0332 (20 mg/kg), all decreased immobility and increased swimming, a pattern of behavior similar to that which occurs with the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor fluo...

Regulation of septo-hippocampal activity by 5-hydroxytryptamine(2C) receptors.

It is established that the serotonin system modulates hippocampal functions by regulating neuronal activity of both the medial septum and hippocampus. Inhibition of serotonin neurons leads to theta oscillation of septal neurons and theta wave activity in the hippocampus, indicating a tonic regulation of the septo-hippocampal system by serotonin neurons. Because the postsynaptic 5-hydroxytryptam...
